Welcome to March, Solver users. This release brings you the newest bug fixes for your planning tools and the Data Warehouse as well as new functionality in Report Designer (if you have updated to the newest version).
Reminder to all,there is a mandatory update right now for Report Designer, and starting April 6th, 2024, users who do not have version v5.2.61218 or newer will be unable to use Report Designer in Excel at all. This means no new features, no reporting, no editing templates, and no fun until you have updated to the January 2024 version (v5.2.61218). As always, we recommend keeping your Report Designer up to date and that you contact your company’s IT professional to upgrade any time a new version is released. There will be more updates to the Solver portal in this and upcoming releases that will require users to have the latest Report Designer version so don’t miss out!
We would also like to remind our D365 Business Central users that an extension update is coming soon so look out for more updates on this to come.
New Features and Enhancements
Reporting
- Added support for adding additional periodcalc when creating a Publisher subscription.
- Ex:{PeriodCalc.CurrentPeriod.QuarterStart.Add(-3)}
{PeriodCalc.CurrentPeriod.QuarterEnd.Add(-3)}
{PeriodCalc.CurrentPeriod.YearStart.Add(-3)}
{PeriodCalc.CurrentPeriod.YearEnd.Add(-3)}
- Ex:{PeriodCalc.CurrentPeriod.QuarterStart.Add(-3)}
- Added a notification banner to inform users that they do not have the proper permissions to access the data of an Ad Hoc Report that has been shared with them.
- Added the ability for Ad Hoc Reporting to use filters including blanks by default.
- Added a new Storage Comments button to the Report Designer ribbon in Excel that allows users to view the cells within their report that are being used for storage. This feature does not impact the functionality of the Layout Comments button. Users must have the latest version of Report Designer from March 2024 to see this feature (v5.3.10314).
Data Warehouse
- Updated the Rate Type dropdown menu choices on the Rate Configuration screen to be sorted in alphabetical order.
- Updated the UI on the Dimension Members screen to better use the screen space if there are fewer columns in the dimension.
- Updated the text on the Choose your Data QuickStart step to be more clear.
Administration
- Updated the translations of elements for several languages throughout the Data Warehouse including:
- Portuguese
- Italian
- Updated Microsoft Azure AD references in the application to Microsoft Entra ID.
- No configuration changes are required.
Bug Fixes
Planning
- Fixes an issue where users were unable to properly store leading zeroes when working with Input Templates. Ex: ‘0050’ should be stored as ‘0050’ and not ’50’. This fix requires users to have updated to the newest version of Report Designer from March 2024 (v5.3.10314).
- Fixes an issue where users were receiving Publisher notification emails containing a periodCalc instead of the calculated period. Previously users would see the periodcalc string instead of the actual date.
Reporting
- Fixes an issue in Ad Hoc Reporting where in some cases when sharing a report, the user referenced in the Sharing column would be the user that was currently logged in instead of the user who owned the report.
- Fixes an issue where some users were incorrectly receiving validation error messages in Ad Hoc Reporting.
- Fixes an issue where users were receiving notifications in the portal that would bring them to the wrong report when they had multiple notifications.
Data Warehouse
- Fixes an issue with Assignments where Reviewers were able to click on the Save Data button while the assignment was still in progress.
- Fixes an issue on the manual integration Task Mapping page where longer expressions were being cut off on the Target Field and Mapping Expression tables.
