Solver Usage with Organizations with Two Fiscal Calendars

This article details how to manage two different Fiscal Calendars for an organization using Solver Cloud.

When loading data into Solver cloud, specifically the Data Warehouse, the DW currently only handles one fiscal calendar. For organizations looking to use Solver with their multiple calendar configurations, there are a couple of options available:

  • Option 1
    • Use multiple tenants, each tenant configured with the appropriate fiscal configuration
  • Option 2
    • Use a single tenant and “move” the transactions of one company to the fiscal calendar of the other during the data load process.

Of the two above, the first one is the most common. This is the preferred method because typically in a multiple fiscal configuration, end users are used to the period references of that company.

For example:

  • Company A: Period 202001 represents calendar year Sept 1, 2020 – Sept 30, 2020
  • Company B: Period 202001 represents calendar month Jan 1, 2021 – Jan 31, 2021

By purchasing the two tenants, you can be assured that the period being referenced in a report returns transactions that fall in the expected calendar dates. Option #2 works as well but would move the transactions to Jan 1, 2021, which may confuse users, reporting off Company A.

However, if you would like to discuss this further, Solver Consulting is happy to discuss your particular situation and how Solver can be best implemented for your needs. Please submit a support ticket to make this request.
