Introduced in April 2025, users are now able to customize the drilldown in Solver. This feature will allow a user to update/customize the default drilldown with
- Additional Attributes from your dimensions
- Reorder and/or remove columns
This feature allows you to customize the drilldown across each factset, allowing for full customization for each set of data you are bringing into Solver. The change is made available to all Solver users of the tenant.
Additionally, this feature is a per tenant feature for those customers who are bringing different data sources into separate tenants in Solver.
When using this feature, the updates to the drilldown are reflected upon the next execution of a report. Archive and prior executions of a report will show the prior
Availability
Available to all Solver users with the April 2025 Solver Update.
- This feature is not available for Solver Private Host customers.
Requirements
In order to customize the default drilldown, you must have “Can customize drilldown” permissions. Contact your Administrator for access to this feature.
Configuration
There are two steps required to customize the drill.
- Enable the permission
- Customize the drilldown
The next sections will detail these steps.
Enable Can Customize Drilldown Permissions
Enabling “Can Customize Drilldown” can be done at a user or a role level: As an admin with “Can manage users and data access”.
- Log into Solver and navigate to Settings > Administration
- Select either the User or Role you want to have “Can customize drilldown” permissions
- Toggle the switch, enabling or disabling the permission
Users will need to log out and log back into Solver in order to see the new menu option
Customizing the drilldown
To customize the drilldown, after being granted the above permission.
- Log into Solver
- Click Settings > Custom Drilldown
- For customers with connections to an on premise ERP (ie: GP/SL) you will be prompted to choose your connection. Select the system you would like to customize. The following steps will show the steps in the Data Warehouse, but the same steps will apply for other Integrations such as GP.
- Once you have selected a connection, the interface will load three columns
- Column 1: a list of Modules and their factsets
- Previously customized factsets are in bold as a quick identifier of customization.
- Column 2: a list of dimensions associated to the selected factset
- Column 3: the drilldown columns and order, where the top of the list represents the first column in the drilldown sheet.
- Column 1: a list of Modules and their factsets
- Choose a factset such as General Ledger
- The list of dimensions will appear in Column 2 will appear and the drilldown order will appear in Column 3.
- If you want to add more attributes from the account dimension, as an example, expand the account dimension and choose an additional attribute such as Account Category.
- Selecting this dimension attribute will put it to the bottom of the list in Column 3. Simply “click and drag” this attribute up the list to the position that you’d like.
- For attributes coming from a dimension, the dimension is shown next the the attribute for clarity.
- If you would like to delete attributes, such as the dimension description, on the far right of each field in column three is a X. Click this to delete the attribute.
- Once done, Click Save.
- Users will see information on the last user to modify the drilldown next to the Save button.
Your change is saved immediately. Upon the next execution of the report, your new drilldown view will appear.
Resetting the drilldown
For whatever reason, if you would like to reset the drilldown to its default view
- Navigate to Settings > Administration
- Click the factset that you would like to customize.
- Choose “Reset default”
- In popup that appears, choose Reset Default to confirm the action and reset the drilldown.
- This is a permanent change, Solver cannot recover the previous configuration and you will have to recreate the drilldown.
